Your Membership support will enable us to launch new open–access journals, create innovative author and reader tools and resources, and reach a more global audience – all toward the goal of ensuring that scientific and medical knowledge is freely available to all scientists, health professionals, teachers, students, patients, and members of the public.
Individual Members support PLOS because they endorse our mission and core principles. Articles submitted to PLOS journals by Members do not receive any special consideration in the peer review process nor do Individual Members receive any discount on the publication charge associated with accepted papers. Donations to the organization do not exert any influence over editorial decisions in PLOS journals.
The Public Library of Science is a tax-exempt, 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization headquartered in San Francisco, California (Federal Tax ID 68-0492065). PLOS membership fees are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law less the fair market value of benefits received. Fair market value for each category: Friend, $5; Supporter, $6; Idealist, $11; Advocate $205; Innovator $216.
