Mike Baehr
GNU/Linux Systems Administrator
Mike was on the Political Science track at Reed College until he discovered that staring at a terminal was much more interesting than homework.
Originally from Chicago, with brief stints in Jerusalem, New York, and Portland, his passions include architecture, urban planning, (poorly) surfing, and travel, preferably in as anachronistic a means as possible.
Mike cut his teeth on UNIX-like systems volunteering for the Metawire Project, a free shell and hosting provider, and spent over three years at Six Apart, Ltd. in San Francisco helping to maintain the TypePad service before coming to PLoS. He is passionate about free software, open access, and designing beautiful infrastructure.
