Anna joined PLOS in 2013 and has a background in population genetics, social insect behavior, invasion biology and host-parasite interactions. She is a Danish native, earning her PhD at the University of Copenhagen where she studied using pharaoh ants as a model organism and also collected lots of them from around the world. She then moved to the US to do postdoctoral research on behavioral changes in sick ants at Penn State University. She is keen on making scientific research more readily available to everyone through Open Access as well as making the publishing experience better for authors. When not in the office Anna enjoys hanging out in the Golden Gate Park and experimenting with different baking techniques.
