Institutional Account Participants
The following institutions have made arrangements with PLOS to pay the Article Processing Charges (APC) on behalf of their researchers. Only corresponding authors with affiliation with the institutions are funded.
The institutions reserve the right to accept or reject who they will fund per their internal funding policies. For APC in which the institution does not accept responsibility per their review, PLOS will invoice the authors individually.
Please note that some UK Institutions will only provide Open Access funding for publication costs associated with research projects that are funded by Research Council UK (RCUK) or Wellcome Trust grants. The Wellcome Trust will refund open access publication costs related to their grants, even after the grant is closed. Existing Research Council UK grants (awarded before 1 April 2013) permit open access publication costs to be charged as direct costs during the lifetime of the grant. Beginning 1 April 2013, RCUK provided separate APC block grants to designated UK institutions to pay for open access publication costs. See below for institutions with such restrictions.
