Article redesign on PLoS Journals [1]

Some new features have just been added to the articles in the PLoS Journals (all except PLoS Biology), and we wanted to give a short summary of the key changes. This site redesign represents another step in the development of Topaz, the open source publishing system that will shortly host all of our journals once PLoS Biology migrates to the platform in a couple of months (see also Rich Cave’s blog post [2]).

Max Planck Society covers publication fees for PLoS journals [4]

PLoS and the Max Planck Society (MPS) [5] have recently established an agreement whereby open access publication fees [6] in PLoS journals will be paid directly by the MPS for articles from researchers at Max Planck Institutes [7].

2007 Impact factors for PLoS Journals [10]

The latest impact factors (for 2007) have just been released from Thomson Reuters [11]. They are as follows:
PLoS Biology - 13.5
PLoS Medicine - 12.6
PLoS Computational Biology - 6.2
PLoS Genetics - 8.7
PLoS Pathogens - 9.3

A new Managing Editor for PLoS ONE [18]

Pete Binfield joined PLoS this week as the Managing Editor for PLoS ONE.

PLoS Computational Biology, PLoS Genetics and PLoS Pathogens forge ahead [21]

PLoS Computational Biology [22], PLoS Genetics [23] and PLoS Pathogens [24] were launched in the Summer of 2005, and are now entering a new phase in their development. In a few days, they will join PLoS ONE [25] and PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases [26] on the Topaz publishing platform [27], and will benefit from more rapid publication along with tools for user interaction – commentary, notes [28] and ratings [29].
