The PLoS ONE blog channel is moving [1]

Submitted by Liz Allen on Mon, 2009-06-22 13:42.

PLoS ONE now blogs at everyONE [2], and we won't be posting here any more. We outgrew this site in terms of functionality and ease of use a few months ago and it's time to redirect everyone that visits this channel to our new home. You can sign up for updates from our new blog via RSS [3] or e-newsletter [4].

Submitted by Liz Allen on Thu, 2009-04-30 09:30.

PLoS production and editorial staff are in close contact with our soon to be published authors around the world and they often get to know them quite well during the to and fro of correspondence. A scientist from Mexico, who has a book review article that has been accepted for publication and will shortly be published in PLoS Biology, told us what it is like to live and work there at the current time, and we thought that we would share that with you.

When I first joined PLoS in 2005, I was largely clueless about about blogging or the use of social media which was at the time a speck on the media horizon. That was until Richard Cave [14] (our IT Director) suggested to me, with some insistence, that I would really benefit from attending the NTEN [15] (Non Profit Technology) Conference in Seattle so that I could get educated about how to use these largely free tools to evangelize for PLoS ONE.

Expanding the outreach of PLoS content in the developing world [17]

Submitted by Liz Allen on Fri, 2009-03-06 10:51.

One snowy weekend in January 2008, I was lucky enough to attend the Science Blogging Conference [18] (co-organized by Bora Zivkovic [19] our Online Discussion Expert) in NC where I networked with the great and the good of the scientific communication world. PLoS distributed free T-shirts at the event and, not surprisingly, I was warmly greeted wherever I went.
