PLoS ONE Launch

Submitted by Richard Cave on Wed, 2006-12-20 19:17.

A lot of people have been involved in the project from it's inception - I won't get into specifics but a lot of blood, sweat and tears have been poured into this project. It is an amazing accomplishment to launch 103 articles on a brand new platform and everybody at PLoS and Topaz should be extremely proud to be part of this launch.

There are couple of things that I want to point out inherent to all site launches:

  • You may also experience an "ugly site" in your browser due to caching of CSS files. Web browsers cache CSS and you need to refresh your browser and/or clear your cache to get the new CSS file. In Firefox, this can be done by going to Tools -> Clear Private Data.
  • It may take a bit of time for the hostname cache to synchronize to the new PLoS ONE server. Most ISPs should already have the new website but some external users may experience a longer time before the site shows correctly. This is dependant on the ISP and out of our hands.
  • There will be bugs. I'm sure that there's some lurking beasts in the code, so please bear with us as improve the site.

PLoS ONE is about community - if you have feedback, bug reports, ideas, etc. please enter them on the PLoS ONE feedback form.

Now it's time for a much needed beer and some sleep....
