In recognition of World AIDS Day (December 1, 2007) this week's issue of PLoS Medicine includes several noteworthy papers on HIV diagnosis, prevention and treatment, including research articles, commentaries and an editorial titled "HIV Treatment Proceeds as Prevention Research Confounds."

Lethal Injection: Amnesty International, US Courts, and PLoS Medicine

The worldwide human rights organization Amnesty International released a report today on execution by lethal injection. The report cites the research article by Koniaris and colleagues and the accompanying editorial published in PLoS Medicine’s April 2007 issue.

Reactions to PLoS Medicine Articles on Lethal Injection

The PLoS Medicine editors have received a lot of email about lethal injection since we published a research article finding that drugs used in executions may cause more suffering than expected.
